Styled Shoot - Boho Luxe at Marshwood Manor

Luxury, woodsy bohemian vibes tablescape
Dakota, by Willowby boho wedding dress

Back at the beginning of October 2020, we ventured out to a beautiful new venue for a very ‘on-trend’ styled shoot, but we wanted to do things a little different to the mainstay boho look, opting for a more luxe, woodsy vibe whilst keeping the eclectic and laid-back essence of bohemian styling that we all love.

Whilst we all adore the pampas trend, we wanted to introduce more warmth and depth to the colour palette so with the combination of foliage, warm-tone florals and coloured glassware, we were able to create a sumptuous aesthetic with a hint of pampas, and even some beautiful white peacock feathers.

The venue for this beaut of a shoot was Marshwood Manor, a new, and highly versatile wedding venue, just outside of Bridport, Dorset. Whilst they have 3 separate areas licensed for wedding ceremonies, and a gorgeous meadow for marquee-based celebrations, the weather sadly kept us within the Haybarn. However, we certainly weren’t complaining as it is a beautiful and unique setting, designed entirely around the owner’s vision.

Our florist, Julia Moore Floral Design is just one of our favourite people, whether it’s for me on a shoot, or one of her clients, she goes above and beyond to create looks more beautiful than you ever imagined. For this shoot, Julia used birch leaves, pampas grass (Cortaderia), dried palm spears, quicksand roses, harmony peach roses, Adele roses, bleached ruscus, bleached lunaria, Rosanne Brown lisianthus, Vienna copper chrysanthemum bloom, apricots dyed asparagus fern, bleached phalaris and bleached peacock feathers in the gorgeous irregular bridal bouquet.

The tablescape was an absolute triumph with all of the above, PLUS glowing Alp hydrangea, Saffina Dark chrysanthemum bloom, careless whisper rose and Antigua spray roses in low-level arrangements, together with an abundance of bud vases, all complemented by a huge hanging installation above, which included populous berries, nicoli, magnolia leaves, pistache, soft ruscus and phlebodium blue star. That’s quite a floral shopping list! Also in the mix, were with hand-painted, and hand-made, glass candle holders. All absolutely stunning, but my favourite part was the sweetheart table, the cloud arrangement behind suspended on the wall, the huge asymmetrical table arrangement with coordinating floor arrangement created perfect balance and made it utterly dreamy.

Our photographer, Greg, of TP Photography captured the shoot beautifully, using the beautiful natural light of the barn to perfectly illuminate both our model, and the tablescapes. Greg is our local photography ninja and excels at capturing natural expression (he says it’s his ‘jokes’), as well as the details, making him, and his “magic soul stealing light box” the perfect choice for the job.

The Boho Wedding Co provided some gorgeous props, the arch and table plan settings, votives and pillows really enhanced the eclectic feel of the shoot but those wicker peacock chairs – those were the stars!

The gorgeous glassware, silverware and crockery from Swingletree Vintage added a touch of sophisticated simplicity to a very busy and colourful tablescape. Cut glass wine glasses and champagne flutes, paired with white plates with subtle gold rim provided refinement.

Lisa Notley Cake Design, who has more awards for taste and design of cake than one can shake a stick at, created a trio of beauties for us, a showstopping four-tiered centrepiece, a two-tiered chum and a tall single-tiered pal. Lisa has a naturally luxe style, pairing intricate detailing with a clean, minimalist base setting. For this shoot, she created gorgeous, hyper-realistic roses and lunaria for each of the three cakes. The base tier of the largest cake was subtly brushed with a water colour effect & over piped with details taken from the dress, this was also echoed on the single-tier cake.

The cake was displayed on bespoke cake stands by Prop Options, a perfectly on-trend ply creation elevated the cakes, in all senses of the word.

The dress, oh sweet bridal lords, that dress! It is Dakota, by Willowby, seen here in solid ivory, and also available as Ivory-Nude-Blush. It can be found in the beautiful boutique of Stephanie Frances Bridal, Southbourne and Stephanie, being the expert seamstress and practical lady, has enabled this dress to have the option of easily detachable, and then attachable, fringing. This dress has a bit of an adventurous side, with a very open neckline and sheer slit, but balances perfectly with the fringing and cathedral train. It’s slinky, sexy, but oh so fun to swish around in with that fringing!

Our incredibly talented hair and makeup team consisted of Charlee Hulbert Bridal Make-up and Victoria Nightingale Hair Stylist. Charlee used NARS & Charlotte Tilbury on the skin and Charlotte Tilbury products on eyes and lips to create a soft yet glamorous autumnal bridal look. Meanwhile, Victoria used Redken Wax Blast and Schwarzkopf Tame Wild to control Leonie’s hip skimming hair. An elegant low Bun using Braids and twists with small plaits entwined in the bun, all adorned with a beautiful new hair vine design by The Wedding Fairy and Friends – Vintage Blush.

Leonie’s look was accented by a beautiful jewellery collection by Joanna Reed Bridal. The understated, beautiful necklace, and matching earrings and bracelet were made with luxurious, genuine keshi pearls, hand-wired onto a gold-filled chain.

The Doc Martin’s and leather jacket were Leonie’s own, but they sure looked great!
